Welcome to the website of the Victoria College Boarding Department
Victoria College Belfast is a voluntary grammar school for girls founded in 1859 by Mrs Margaret Byers to provide an excellent education for women and is one of the longest established girls' schools in the UK.
Drumglass House is home to our lively and thriving boarding department. Boarding has always been an integral part of Victoria College and as it continues to adapt to the changing needs of our boarders and the 21st century we are excited about its future.
Girls aged 9 to 18 are welcomed into a warm and nurturing environment in which young girls can feel safe and supported, allowing them to achieve their best from an excellent education system whilst making secure, lasting friendships with their peers. The international atmosphere of the house is one of its best assets as the opportunity to live and work amongst students from other countries develops a sense of community and an appreciation of those from other cultures. Living so close to school means girls have the opportunity to be involved in as many extra curricular activities as can be fitted into their schedule. The academic record of our boarders is outstanding, with last year seeing all our year 14s obtaining the grades needed to attend their University of first choice.
The care, welfare and happiness of our girls is our main focus. Drumglass is well staffed by myself (Head of Boarding), 2 Matrons and 9 Boarding Mistresses who are always available to help with homework, offer guidance or just to have a cup of tea and a chat at the end of a long day
